America's First Pope, Robert Francis Prevost
A new Pope has been elected to lead the close to two billion Catholic christians across the world.
Footages from the Vatican city show white smoke emerging from the sistine chimney, indicating the election of a new Pope.
About 133 cardinals had gone into what is known as the conclave on Wednesday to begin the process of electing the new Catholic leader.
It would be one of the fastest elections so far in the history of the Catholic Church.
The election comes in the wake of the demise of Pope Francis, the first, last month.
