The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has arrested 50 Nigerians, including a landlord, for alleged involvement in cybercrime and human trafficking in Accra.
The early morning raid was carried out on Thursday at McCarthy Hills in the Ga South Municipality after intelligence reports exposed a criminal network operating from the area.
“This operation follows intelligence gathered on the illegal stay of some foreign nationals in the area, some of whom were trafficked into the country and forced into cyber fraud by their facilitators,” Assistant Commissioner of Immigration M. Amoako-Atta confirmed in a statement.
The joint operation, executed with national security agencies, targeted suspects believed to be running cyber-fraud schemes and human trafficking rings.
Officials disclosed that the suspects are currently being screened, while investigations continue. Updates will be provided as the case unfolds.
Thursday’s raid comes months after a similar crackdown in April 2025, where security agencies arrested 219 foreign nationals, including minors, in Oyarifa, Ga East Municipality, dismantling another large-scale cyber fraud and trafficking syndicate.
