African International Collaborative Center (AICC)
African International Collaborative Center (AICC) is building a more connected Bronx through civic participation. A non-profit charitable, humanitarian, national and international organisation whose mission is to empower African immigrants to improve their lives locally and internationally through access to information, literacy, health education, civic participation and entrepreneurship.
In a statement signed by AICC’s director, Dr.Hadiza Osuji which was made available to Dotolive News Magazine which is read in parts
The Bronx has always been a borough shaped by community strength, resilience, and participation. From block associations to faith-based groups and neighbourhood organisations, civic engagement has long been part of how residents come together to improve local life.
As New Yorkers move forward following recent elections, staying engaged remains just as important as showing up on Election Day. Civic participation is a year-round effort that includes learning about local issues, understanding how public institutions work, and participating in community conversations that shape our neighborhoods.
Through initiatives like the REMAP NYS Regrant program—Register, Educate, Mobilize, Advocate, and Protect—the African International Collaborative Center (AICC) is supporting nonpartisan civic engagement efforts throughout the Bronx. These efforts include voter registration drives, voter education activities, and community outreach designed to help residents’ access accurate information and civic resources.
Civic participation strengthens trust between communities and public institutions. When residents stay informed and engaged, local programs and services are better able to reflect real community needs, from housing and education to public safety and economic opportunity.
The Bronx continues to move forward when neighbors stay connected, informed, and involved. By participating in civic life, residents help ensure that local voices remain an important part of shaping the borough’s future.
African International Collaborative Center (AICC) empowers African immigrants and other minority communities of color in the Bronx through direct, culturally responsive programming including arts and culture, tech access and digital equity, community health education, community violence prevention, mental health promotion, environmental justice, civic engagement, and access to resources, as well as fostering collaborations with key community leaders, community-based organizations and faith-based institutions.
Central to our approach is being responsive and accountable to the communities we serve listening to their voices, tailoring our services to their lived realities, and fostering collaborations that expand access to resources.
