Bash,
I remember how you fondly called me Da’Costa. You were so full of life every time we had the opportunity to discuss life, business, and politics at your abode, the Triple ‘H’ hotel, the golf club, the Resonance club, and our night crawling activities.
Of all the many blessings, however great and small, to have known you was a privilege. You were kind-hearted (inside and outside), warm, charming (with your smile), and the Hausa accent, the A-level English pronunciations, the writing skills and your Yoruba banter (“Ka Kuoolu fun o”). You are very loving.
Very few of the people around us leave significant impacts in our lives, and for us you are one of those. Personally, I will miss you, miss our chats in the Olubadan Estate Political Platform, your hatred for Buhari and the Ibos and your love for Tinubu Jagaban and our other discussions, including 2026 Agricultural plans

It was unbelievable when I got the call from Mr Vikitor that morning that you had passed. I froze for a few seconds and was destabilised. I was speechless as I remembered our last conversation less than 3 weeks earlier. It is still like a dream, but just like everything in life, when the journey ends, we will claim a great reward and find everlasting peace together with the creator.
Fare thee well, Bash. You left a legacy that will be read through generations, current and to come.
Even in death you are still loved and forever will be.
I am not saying goodbye forever, but goodbye for now.
BASHIRU AYINDE OMO ILE ASUKUNA. SUN RE O!
