Lionel Richie in ICU After Concert Rushed to Hospital
Legendary singer Lionel Richie has reportedly been hospitalised after his recent performance in St. Louis, with the 77-year-old music icon checking himself into the ICU as a precaution.
According to reports first published by TMZ, Richie sought medical attention shortly after performing at The Muny in St. Louis on Saturday, August 29. The singer is currently on his “Sing a Song All Night Long” tour with Earth, Wind & Fire.
Richie’s next scheduled performance is set for September 26 in San Francisco, although it remains unclear whether his recent hospital visit will affect his upcoming shows.
This is not the first health scare Richie has experienced during the tour. On June 24, he was forced to cut short a concert in St. Paul, Minnesota, after becoming dizzy while performing.
During the show, Richie reportedly joked with the audience about feeling dizzy and admitted that he had never performed “Dancing on the Ceiling” while seated. “When you’re feeling dizzy, sit your ass down,” he quipped before taking a seat at the piano to perform “Three Times a Lady.”
He later took an unexpected break, bringing the concert to an early end.
