Kuwait Suspends Visa Issuance for Nigerians Indefinitely
The government of Kuwait has temporarily suspended the issuance of commercial visit visas for all foreign nationals, including Nigerians, a move expected to affect business travel into the Gulf nation.
The restriction means that new applications for the visa category, commonly used for short-term professional visits, will no longer be processed until further notice.
Commercial visit visas are typically granted to foreign professionals invited by registered Kuwaiti companies for activities such as business meetings, conferences, seminars, client engagements and contract discussions. The permits are usually issued as single-entry visas with a validity period of up to 30 days.
The latest measure is expected to disrupt planned corporate trips and other business-related visits, as travellers who rely on the visa route will be unable to obtain fresh approvals during the suspension period.
According to reports from immigration and mobility advisory firm Fragomen, Kuwaiti authorities have not disclosed the reason behind the decision. Officials have also not indicated when the suspension may be lifted, stating only that it will remain in force until further notice.
Businesses, employers and prospective visitors have been urged to keep track of official announcements and review their travel arrangements in light of the development.
