Actress Selma Blair
American actress Selma Blair has reportedly been issued a summons on an assault charge following an alleged altercation with flight attendants aboard a Delta Air Lines flight from Los Angeles to New York.
According to reports, two flight attendants sustained injuries during the incident, with one of them taken to the hospital for treatment. Authorities reportedly responded when the aircraft landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.
A federal law enforcement source told the BBC that Blair was issued a summons and is expected to appear before a petty violation court in Brooklyn. However, a court date has not yet been announced. The incident reportedly attracted the attention of the FBI, which was involved in the investigation.
Reacting to the situation, Blair’s publicist explained that the actress had experienced a medical emergency, which allegedly contributed to what happened on the flight. She reportedly received medical attention after landing and was said to be in stable condition.
Meanwhile, Delta Air Lines reiterated its firm stance against disruptive or unlawful behaviour on its flights, stressing that the safety of passengers and crew members remains its top priority.
The incident has also brought renewed attention to a similar experience Blair had in 2016, when she was reportedly removed from a flight on a stretcher following an outburst. The actress later apologised, explaining that she had accidentally mixed medication with alcohol, causing her to black out and behave in ways she deeply regretted.
Blair, 54, is widely recognised for her roles in popular films such as Legally Blonde, Hellboy and Cruel Intentions. She stepped back from much of her acting career after publicly revealing her multiple sclerosis diagnosis in 2018. In 2021, she announced that the disease was in remission
