Tyla
South African music star Tyla has sparked mixed reactions online after announcing Lagos as one of the stops on her upcoming A*POP World Tour, with a performance scheduled for December.
Reacting to the announcement, some Nigerians questioned the decision to welcome the singer, pointing to her silence during previous xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa.
Media personality Solomon Buchi was among those who criticised the development, arguing that Tyla never publicly condemned the attacks or spoke up for Nigerians affected by the violence.
Adding to the conversation, an X user wrote:
“Nigerians don’t stand for anything.”
The post has since fueled debate on social media, with some users supporting Buchi’s stance, while others insist that music and politics should remain separate.
