Catholic Priest Resigns to Marry African Woman
An Italian-born former Catholic priest, Father Sandro Ferretto, has turned a new page in his life after leaving the priesthood to pursue love and start a family with a Kenyan woman he met during his missionary service.
Ferretto previously served as a Catholic parish priest in Kasiela and Mochongoi in Baringo County, where he spent years involved in missionary and community work.
It was during his time in the region that he met Sharon Jepng’ok, a Tugen woman and daughter of former councillor John Wendot. What began as an encounter during his missionary work eventually developed into a romantic relationship.
Faced with a life-changing decision, Ferretto chose to leave the priesthood and embrace a new chapter centred on love, marriage and family.
The former priest has since married his Kenyan partner in a colourful traditional ceremony held at Seretion Village in Kasiela, Baringo South.
The celebration brought together family members, friends and local residents, who gathered to witness Ferretto officially begin his new life outside the Catholic ministry.

His decision has attracted considerable attention, given his previous role as a Catholic priest and his years of service within the Kenyan community.
For Ferretto, however, the story appears to be less about his past and more about beginning a new journey built around love and family.
